Definition of Project

A set of source files and related metadata, such as component references and build instructions, that helps you organize and perform common tasks on the items that you are developing. Projects are contained within a solution.

A file that keeps track of all programs, forms, menus, libraries, reports, labels, queries, and other types of files that are needed to create an application.

A temporary endeavor undertaken to meet or exceed stakeholder expectations.

A program of work.

In Windows Assessment Services, the group of computers and images that comprise a subset of all the computers and images that have been added to an inventory. A project provides a contextualized, manageable view of computers within the pool of assets, and pairs each computer with an image and an answer file. A project does not contain assessments, but the project shows all the jobs that correspond to the project.
