Oorja-CAPFs Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament-2017

The Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) will conduct Oorja – CAPFs Under-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017, throughout the region from May 1-15, 2017. The tournament can be jointly organized by CAPF underneath the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will conduct the tournament in Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Goa as well as Union Territories of Dadra�& Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

Bruno Coutinho, an Arjuna Awardee, has been created being the brand ambassador for Oorja -2017 in Goa.

Background

India can be hosting FIFA Under 19 World Cup in October 2017. As of this juncture, Prime Minister has considered necessary encouraging kids playing football and develop both skill and fitness. To encourage the activity, Mission XI Million programme has become launched.

Mission XI Million

Mission XI Million is usually a grassroots programme that will encourage children playing football. It's always school contact programme geared towards helping the football ecosystem and enlarge the talent pool for the national team. The programme aims to succeed in out over 37 cities and 12,000 schools across all 29 states. Those actions under this initiative can be split up into three phases: seminars for teacher and educators, in-school activities and football festivals, that is conducted till September, 2017.
