India on 15 January 2016 celebrated the 68th Army Day. Annually, the day is celebrated to commemorate the day, when Lieutenant
General (later Field Marshal) K M Cariappa became the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army in post independence period.
He took over the command of Army from General Sir FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief on 15 January 1949.
To mark the occasion, General Dalbir Singh, Chief of the Army Staff reviewed the Parade at Army Parade Ground, Delhi Cantonment.
